The Art of Blending
Crafting the Perfect Arado Wines for the 2024 Vintage
As the warm spring sun shines over Argentina’s vineyards, it's harvest season – a time filled with anticipation and creativity as we begin crafting the perfect blend for the 2024 vintage.
While fall embraces the East Coast of the U.S., in Argentina, we are welcoming the start of spring, which brings with it the excitement of the grape harvest. For Arado Wines, this is one of the most important times of the year. It's during this season that our winemakers meticulously select and blend Malbec grapes from different vineyard plots and altitudes to create a wine that embodies the richness and diversity of Argentine terroir.
The Importance of Blending in Winemaking
At Arado Wines, blending is an art that requires both precision and intuition. This process allows us to highlight the best characteristics of grapes grown in different regions of our vineyards. From the high-altitude Uco Valley to the sun-soaked Cafayate in the Calchaquí Valley, each plot brings unique qualities to the final wine.
Uco Valley Malbec: Known for its rich concentration and bright acidity, the grapes from Uco Valley lend structure and depth to the blend. These grapes benefit from the high-altitude climate, where warm days and cool nights allow for slow ripening, resulting in complex, bold flavors.
Cafayate Malbec: In contrast, the Malbec from Cafayate provides intense fruit flavors and a hint of minerality, influenced by the dry climate and sandy soils. These grapes bring brightness and a refined elegance to the blend.
The goal of blending is to create a wine that captures the essence of each region while achieving harmony and balance in the glass. By combining different Malbec grapes, we ensure that each bottle of Arado represents the full expression of Argentina’s diverse terroir.
Harvest 2024 – A Vintage to Anticipate
As our winemakers taste and blend the different components of the 2024 vintage, they are crafting a wine that will represent the unique climate and growing conditions of this harvest year. The delicate balance of fruit, acidity, and tannins achieved through careful blending will result in a wine that is both approachable and complex – a perfect expression of the Malbec grape.
Each decision made during blending is key to creating a wine that not only reflects the vintage but also the signature style of Arado Wines. Our 2024 vintage will be a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship that go into every bottle.
